Nassarawa State Polytechnic is a state public polytechnic situated on Lafia-Jos Road at the former Government College Lafia, which is the capital of Nassarawa State. Nassarawa State Polytechnic is different from Federal Polytechnic Nassarawa, as the latter is owned and controlled by the federal government while the former is controlled by the state.
This polytechnic was renamed Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, and it is the name that the polytechnic bears as of now. Nassarawa State Polytechnic was established in the year 2000 by the former governor of Nassarawa State, Alhaji Dr Abdullahi Adamu, who was the first governor of Nassarawa State at that time.
A centre of learning and training hub, Nassarawa State Polytechnic had grown to be an academic ground for students and intellectuals alike. The polytechnic dedicates itself to advancing scientific, technological, and professional education, aiming to equip students for the future.
The institution hosted and offered a lot of courses from its ND, HND and Pre-HND under its school, which is termed ‘faculties’ in university terms, but it is mostly classified as a school by most polytechnics due to its practical approach rather than being based on academics.
Various schools/faculties available in Nassarawa State Polytechnic include the School of Engineering, the School of Science and Technology, the School of Communication Technology, the School of Environmental Studies and the School of Administration and Business Studies.
Under these schools are various courses and departments under them for administration. The courses and the department will be categorised under the ND and HND programmes. Some of the courses which is available at ND level might not be available for HND programme

As of current, Nassarawa State Polytechnic offers 25 National Diploma programme courses and 13 Higher National Diploma courses. Isa Mustapha Agwai / Nassarawa State Polytechnic also offers a pre-ND programme and also the IJMB exam.
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements are not too complex at Nassarawa Polytechnic, as the institution uses your result gotten from your JAMB and O-level exams to give admission.
For the O-level result requirement, candidates are required to have at least five credits in relevant subjects pertaining to the course the candidate chooses, with Mathematics and English compulsory, as there is no course in the institution for which Mathematics is not required.
UTME requirements vary among courses and departments, but the use of English is compulsory for all courses offered at Nassarawa State Polytechnic.
For HND candidates the minimum requirement is lower credit for any course that a candidate wants to study; for example, any candidate that applies for business administration must have lower credit in their ND certificate to qualify for the programme and one year of working experience.
Exceptions are also made for candidates with passes in their results. For candidates with a pass in their ND level result, two years of working experience is needed to bridge this gap.

Nassarawa State Polytechnic Cut-off mark
The minimum cut-off mark set by JAMB for all polytechnics is pegged at 100, but according to Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, the required cut-off mark is currently at 110 for all candidates who want to be considered for any ND programme.
For a better chance of admission, candidates are required to score more than 110. Any score less than 110 would not be considered for admission.
